$6,500 ALSO AVAILABLE FOR "MOVE UP" or "MOVE DOWN" BUYERS
It's official - the $8,000 tax credit for First Time Home Buyers (haven't owned a home in last 3 years) HAS BEEN EXTENDED. The bill will also make available a $6,500 credit to "move up" OR "move down" buyers that have lived in their current residence for 5 of the last 8 years. It appears that these buyers will not have to sell their home before buying another one. Even if you've been renting for the past 2-3 years you can get the credit so long as you lived in your home for 5 consequtive years. The new expiration date will be April 30, 2010 to obtain a contract on a home, then the buyer will have an additional 60 days to close on their purchase.
